Discovering Unique Towns For Weekend Getaways AZ

When it comes to the greater Southwest area of the United States, there is a lot of beautiful scenery. In addition, there are some great and unique towns which offer inexpensive and fun Weekend Getaways AZ. In some cases, these towns are surrounded by canyons and cliffs. While this is the case, there is also a great deal of hiking, biking, camping, fishing and swimming that can be found in different areas of the state.

In fact, there are seven areas in particular in the state in which residents and tourists tend to visit on a regular basis. These include, Jerome, Lake Havasu, the Grand Canyon, Bisbee, Flagstaff, Lake Powell and Sedona. All of which are only a few hours apart from one another.

When it comes to Sedona, it is rumored to be a spiritual hot spot with regards to healing. As such, there are a number of holistic professionals living and providing services in the area. Whether getting a hot stone massage, soaking in a hot mineral spring or getting a full treatment at a local resort and spa, Sedona has a lot to offer. In addition the area is surrounded by breathtaking cliffs which tend to glimmer and shine at sunset and dawn.

On the other hand, Lake Powell which borders Utah is one of the few areas which offers boating, fishing and swimming. As the area can be quite busy in Spring and Summer months, it is often advised that reservations be made well in advance at campgrounds and hotels in the area. Although, if visiting in Fall or Winter, visitors will often find a great deal of accommodations available on a first come, first serve basis.

When desiring to get the feel for an Arizona mountain town, Flagstaff has a lot to offer. For, there are a number of local eateries, bars and wineries. In addition, the are is lined with pine trees unlike the rest of the state which tends to boast cliffs and desert. While in Flagstaff, visitors are surrounded by tall mountains with many natural areas with the area playing home base for visits to the North and South rim of the Grand Canyon, a natural wonder offering helicopter tours, hiking trails, donkey rides and the Grand Canyon railway located in the nearby town of Williams.

Art enthusiasts will most likely love the little hamlet of Bisbee. An active artist colony, artists can be found working out of small homes, storefronts or, in some cases, art buses on a daily basis. In addition, the Copper Queen Hotel, a favorite of John Wayne remains open and operating in the area.

London Bridge may be falling down in the song but not in the town of Lake Havasu. For, the bridge is now a working bridge located in the area. It was in the mid-late 1960s when the bridge was moved piece by piece from London to Arizona. Since the time of relocation, the bridge has become a highlight of travelers whom cross over the bridge from California to Arizona on a regular basis.

Jerome, a town even lesser known than Bisbee is a small village located in the Black Hills county of Yavapai. The town offers scenic views, narrow alleyways and a history of ghostly apparitions. In addition, there are a number of locally owned eateries and shops. After an afternoon of lunch and shopping, many residents and tourists like to tour the various old buildings and notable hotels in which ghosts of the old west are rumored to haunt the establishments on a regular basis.
